Managing Organizational Conflict

Have you ever found yourself dreading having to work with a colleague who is particularly stubborn or bossy? Or perhaps replaying an encounter with your supervisor that left you feeling frustrated? Most people have been involved in some form of conflict in the workplace, ranging from mild disagreements to explosive standoffs. Conflict can be an obstacle to organizational success and personal job satisfaction. When two or more people work together, conflict is almost inevitable. Although you may not eliminate conflict entirely, you can take control of it.

In this course, you will learn how to successfully handle conflict and prevent unnecessary conflict from occurring in the first place through the implementation of effective resolution strategies. By the end of this course, you will be able to create a positive working environment in which conflict is dealt with collaboratively.

In this session, we will identify the five characteristic styles of the Blake and Mouton Model used by managerial positions to deal with conflict in the workplace. We will explore each of them as strategies that will effectively manage conflict.

Sources of Conflict

This session will focus on learning how to deal with conflict as it comes up and recognizing the various sources of conflict. We will identify and analyze the strategies for resolving conflicts stemming from each source.
