Social scientists categorize people into four major personality styles; Power, Passion, People, and Precise. During this course, you will examine how to ideally communicate with someone with the People perspective. Through adjustments in your approach, you can reduce tension and increase effectiveness when working with this personality.
This course is part of the complete 4P Personality Styles communication training program. To explore all four styles together, see the full communication training course for managers.
In this session, we will explore how to ideally connect and relate to someone with a People personality. We will focus on methods of communication, factors that motivate, and perceptions of the People style.
Virtual Session (30 minutes) + Online Journal (15 minutes) + Activity (15 minutes)
In this session, we will examine how the People personality reacts to tension or conflict as their back-up behavior. We will discuss how someone with the People personality escalates through their Z conflict pattern as well as methods for de-escalating tension.

This course strengthens your skills in the following leader behaviors:
For working with detail-focused analytical communicators, explore Communication from the Precise Perspective.
The People style describes those who are warm, supportive, and focused on harmony and connection. They are often the glue of a team, prefer consensus, avoid conflict, and can take even constructive criticism to heart.
Lead with the relationship, not the agenda. Check in genuinely before getting to business, frame feedback around support rather than shortcoming, and avoid putting them on the spot in a group. They open up far more one-on-one.
Their back-up behavior under tension is passive: withdrawal, silence, or agreeing to something they actually disagree with. The course shows managers how to build enough safety that a People-style colleague will tell you what is really going on.
Two weekly live sessions of about an hour each, one on connecting with and motivating the People style, one on handling tension and conflict with it.
Yes, it is one of four style-specific courses in the 4P Series. Take just this one if the People style is where you struggle, or the full four-week 4P course for all styles plus an assessment and coaching.
