Social scientists categorize people into four major personality styles; Power, Passion, People, and Precise. During this course, you will examine how to ideally communicate with someone with the Passion perspective. Through adjustments in your approach, you can reduce tension and increase effectiveness when working with this personality.
This course is part of the complete 4P Personality Styles communication training program. To explore all four styles together, see the full communication training course for managers.
In this session, we will explore how to ideally connect and relate to someone with a Passion personality. We will focus on methods of communication, factors that motivate, and perceptions of the Passion style.
Virtual Session (30 minutes) + Online Journal (15 minutes) + Activity (15 minutes)
In this session, we will examine how the Passion personality reacts to tension or conflict as their back-up behavior. We will discuss how the Passion personality escalates through their Z conflict pattern as well as methods for de-escalating tension.

If you also work with direct, results-focused communicators, see Communication from the Power Perspective.
The Passion style describes people who are expressive, enthusiastic, and relationship-driven. They think big-picture, generate ideas and energy easily, and communicate through stories and emotion more than data. Detail and follow-through are their blind spots.
Let them share the idea fully before you evaluate it, match their energy instead of leading with logic, and tie any correction to the bigger vision or the people it affects. They are motivated by recognition and mattering, so fast criticism lands hard.
They can take disagreement personally and dramatize the situation or pull others in through social channels. The course covers the Z conflict pattern for the Passion style and gives managers concrete ways to de-escalate before it spreads.
Two weekly live sessions of about an hour each. One covers how to connect with and motivate a Passion-style colleague, the other covers managing tension and conflict with that style.
No. This one focuses only on the Passion style and works well if that is the style you struggle with most. For all four styles plus a personality assessment and coaching, the full 4P Personality Styles course runs four weeks.
