Course Overview

Delegation is about entrusting responsibility and accountability to others. By delegating tasks, a leader is releasing some decision-making and authority to his or her subordinate, while at the same time keeping responsibility for the completion of the task. Those who implement effective delegation will improve quality of work, create personal accountability, and motivate their employees. This leads to more flexibility in assignments and increased productivity. Participants of this course will understand the need for delegation and learn how to delegate effectively.

Completing this course will help you:

  • Identify the need for delegation and how it positively affects the organization.
  • Understand how to delegate by empowering others.
  • Apply the various steps of delegation.

Frequently asked questions

How do you delegate effectively without losing control?

You match the task to the right person, agree on the level of autonomy, set clear expectations and support, then review afterward. The course walks through each step, including how to avoid taking the task back.

What is reverse delegation and how do you stop it?

Reverse delegation is when a task you handed off quietly bounces back to you. The course covers how to spot and prevent it so delegation actually lightens your load instead of adding to it.

How is this different from the Development to Delegation Cycle course?

Both build delegation skill. This course centers on the practical steps and levels of autonomy for handing off work, while the Development to Delegation Cycle focuses on reading each person’s Skill and Will.

Who is it for?

Leaders who want to free up their time by growing their team rather than doing everything themselves.

How long is the course?

Three weekly live sessions of about an hour each, facilitator-led, with practice between sessions.
