Leaders who provide continual development for their team members stand above the rest. In this course, we will discuss how to create an environment that supports the development of your team members. Developing your team’s skills will enable them to be more effective, take on more challenges, and ultimately become more productive for you and the organization.
This course will teach participants the importance of team development, how to start having effective development conversations with their team, and how to extend support to team members in their development.
It is essential that leaders recognize the impact development efforts for your team members have on the entire organization. In this session, we will discuss a leader’s responsibility for developing others, defining the importance of a strength-based approach, as well as completing and analyzing the VIA Strengths assessment.

This session will define development conversations and demonstrate how to have them with your team members. We will also compare the difference between a development conversation and a performance conversation.

A performance conversation is about how someone is doing against expectations now, while a development conversation is about growing their skills and future. The course teaches how to run both and why development needs its own dedicated conversation.
It uses a strength-based approach and the VIA Strengths assessment, so you build on what a person is naturally good at and set development goals from there.
