If you want to succeed, you need to set goals. When you set goals, you take control of your life’s direction. Setting goals gives you focus and direction, increases your happiness, and significantly benefits your team and organization. In this course, we will explore the process to set SMART goals that will provide the best results possible for yourself, your team, and your organization.

Completing this course will help you:

  • Define and explore goal setting and the process of creating SMART goals.
  • Recognize how to deliver goals the right way and identify your role as a leader.
  • Examine the importance of monitoring your goals.

Learning Path

Session 1 - Goal Setting Process

Goal setting is not just needed for us and our development as leaders. It is also a development effort for others. In this session, we will define and explore SMART goals, their importance, and the process of creating them. We will also understand next level leadership goal setting which includes past performance, present needs, and planning for the future. Finally, we will examine the kryptonite of effective goal setting.

Session 2 - Goal Delivery

Once SMART goals are established, we need to look at the parameters we can document during the goal-setting process. In this session, we will identify and relate the SMT parameters and the RA we consider in order to create the best goals. We will also identify our role in goal setting and determine the balance between direction and dialogue.

Session 3 - Monitor Your Goals

Monitoring the workload of your team members plays an important role in executing goals. In this session, we will determine how you can monitor your team members’ goals, monitor the workload of your team, and identify timelines for reviewing the goals and making necessary changes. We will also recognize commonly missed steps in goal setting.
