Frequently asked questions

What is stress management training?

Stress management training helps people recognize the signs of stress and use practical tools to keep it from wrecking their focus, health, and performance. Leadership Edge Live delivers it as a three-week live virtual course built around the Yerkes-Dodson Law of Performance, a six-step coping formula, and the Circle of Influence, so your team learns to manage stress before it takes hold.

What is the Yerkes-Dodson Law and why does it matter for stress?

The Yerkes-Dodson Law describes how a certain amount of pressure improves performance, but past a tipping point it starts to hurt it. This course uses it to help your team find their own tipping point, so they can tell the difference between productive pressure and harmful stress and act before performance and wellbeing start to slide.

What is the Circle of Influence in managing stress?

The Circle of Influence is a tool for separating what you can actually control or influence from what you cannot, so you stop burning energy on the second. This course uses it in the final session alongside a six-step coping formula, giving your team a way to direct their effort where it makes a difference rather than stewing on things outside their control.

Can managers use this to help their whole team with stress?

Yes, the course is built for leaders who manage in stressful environments and want to help their team cope, not just themselves. Managers learn to spot the signs and symptoms of stress in their people and apply the six-step formula, so they can address a stressed or burned-out team before it shows up as absenteeism or turnover.

Is this stress management course live, and how long is it?

This is a live virtual course delivered over three weekly sessions of about an hour, which sets it apart from the self-paced stress modules that dominate this space. Because it is facilitator-led, your team works through the coping tools in real discussion rather than clicking through slides, and you can register a team for a free trial session first.
