Course Overview

Becoming a new leader can be overwhelming. Navigating the murky waters of your new role can be darn right scary! The New Leader Boot Camp can help ease the anxiety of settling into your new role. This course provides you with the knowledge, skills, and tools necessary to develop a solid 30, 60, 90-day action plan that will set you on the path to leadership success. You will also learn about the essential core leadership competencies and attributes grounded in the philosophy and practice of Servant Leadership.

Completing this course will help you:

  • Define leadership and the role of the leader.
  • Gain an understanding of the philosophy and practices of Servant Leadership.
  • Recognize the importance of communication as a new leader.
  • Set the expectations to seamlessly transition from peer to boss.

Learning Path

Session 1 - Leadership 101

In this session, we define leadership, the role of the leader, leadership styles, and leader behavior competencies. This is the first step in truly understanding and establishing your position as a leader.

Session 2 - Servant Leadership

In this session, you will learn about the values and principles of Servant Leadership and how to apply them in your leadership practice.

Session 3 - Communication

In this session, participants explore their style of communication and the styles of others. Participants are provided with tools and techniques to adapt their communication styles to others. Additionally, we demonstrate how these tools and techniques are applied when conducting the Four Core Leadership Conversations.

Session 4 - Transitioning from Peer to Leader

Making the transition from peer to leader can be tricky, and one of the hardest things any of us ever has to do in our careers. You must deal with the fact that in the eyes of employees, you are no longer “one of us.” In this session, participants learn how to seamlessly and systematically transition from peer to leader. We provide participants with specific actions they can take to reduce any fears and frustration they may have and set them on the path to be the kind of leader others want to follow.
